Maynard F. Jordan
The Jordan Planetarium was named in honor of astronomy professor
emeritus Maynard F. Jordan, who taught at the University of
Maine for thirty-five years, and was the first director of the
planetarium. His daughter and her husband, the Whitehouses,
gave generous donations to the Planetarium and Observatory in
his honor. Click here to learn more about our namesake’s life
and career.
